Breakthrough is right now!

Just when you thought that it was over.  Just when you were counted out....a shift took place in your life and you find that you are here.  Contrary to popular belief, here is not a bad place.  In fact, it's a divine place.  It's a right now place.  It is the very spot that God himself destined you to cross at some point in your life.  Don't shirk the responsibility by not marching forward.

I shared earlier today on Facebook and with friends about not crying about taking things into your new season. You don't get to choose.  You don't get to choose if you will have that job, that car, that friend or your favorite anything.  Some things were not intended for your new season.  As I mentioned earlier today, you can't take snow into your summer.

How do I know?  Well, there have been major changes in my life.  Some of them I needed to do and changed and some were  done for me.  To be authentic, most of them God took over because I dragged my feet and procrastinated out of fear and rebellion against my own belief system.  Yet, I've come to realize that the urgency of God's desire is at hand.  It is when the transition takes place that you realize just how hard you were fighting against moving to a place that provides you the most freedom and the greatest opportunity of your very life.

We are living in a time where there is no time to bring the unnecessary to your new place.  Your assignment is critical, timely and requires your full attention.  How long will you allow that distraction to take more control over your destiny then you are willing to surrender to God?  How long will the want of that superficial thing motivate you to stay in a job, relationship or circumstance that contradicts your very belief system?

Breakthrough is defined as an event that causes or marks the breaking down of a barrier to progress.  It is a penetration beyond the enemy’s line of defense. How long will you look at that issue and the line drawn in the sand that determines if you cross over into the promised land or stay stuck like you did last year.  Breakthrough is not next year, breakthrough is now!  Believe me...God has so divinely given you everything that you need to break down that barrier in your life.  All you have to do is walk in it!

A Place So Familiar by Gina Dacus

Sometimes in life

You just get to the point

Where you realize

That where you are is all wrong.

Like driving in the reverse on a one way

Even though everything around you

Clearly attempts to compels you to straighten yourself out by just turning around.

It should not have taken  you years of going the wrong way

Against the grain of your mind

For you to realize that

You have given more of you to someone

Who could never pay you back

No money represents

The core of yourself.

That account that you thought you were building up

Has been negative for so long that your account was closed long ago

And your deposits were being placed in the wrong hands.

So in retrospect

You fight off depression and regret

As the two partner in hopes of having you jump off the edge with suicidal thoughts

Triggered by the fact that you are once again in the land of

Not again.

The place that you quickly realize

Comes with old pain, now combined with a surrogate pain of your now.

You fight for it not to when

As it would be a tragedy for this person

Who is deemed as terrific and great

To end up worst off than a homeless person left in the gutter left to die

While everyone walks past as if they don’t recognize the site or the stench.

You don’t blame anyone but yourself

Because the triggers you put in place were removed by you

Like a smoke alarm with no batteries

They were only present to make you comfortable that you were capable.

You were dealing with potential and motivation

Instead of actual.

This is not the end you tell yourself

As you search

The depths of your mind

Hoping to find an out

That makes you feel less stupid and dumb

For not using the common sense that you know were born with.

So those with a mustard seed of hope  will turn to their faith and beliefs

A God greater than they could ever even understand

And simply say

Lord Help

Me.

A Celebration Is In Order

It's been awhile since I've written anything on my blog.  I realized that early this morning.  Today is my father's birthday - Dwight Snipes.  My father passed in November of 2006, but some days it seems like it was just yesterday.  This would be one of those days.

My dad was one of my greatest encouragers -- truly.  Through many difficulties, it was God,  his words along with my mother's silent strength that propelled me to push through many obstacles that I bear witness to today.  As I woke up early this morning, I thought about what my dad would say if he saw me sad on his birthday.  He would simply say that a celebration was in order.

My dad was a person that enjoyed life.  He laughed a lot, loved people, and did many things to enjoy his moments. Today, I believe it was my moment to realize that quality and share with many. I recognize that the current troubling times, the latest bill, or even the news would beckon you to fall down and give up.  Yet, I know from my own journey that to whom much is given, much is required.  It is so much more than a position, job or title -- it is my very destiny.

One day a friendasked my father a list of questions about me.  He simply smiled and reduced all of her questions to one answer by responding, "Gina can do anything when she is ready".   When you are ready to celebrate life and where God has brought you from and through, you can smile through what he is bringing you "through" because you will quickly realize that you are "ready".  So as I open up my day in celebration, I speak and write to the atmosphere that "I'm ready".  Ready to celebrate, ready to move on, and ready for whatever comes my way. 

Why?  Because I was made for this.  Everything about me can handle it.  God designed me that way.  And because I choose to have confidence in Christ, I can do all things in him.

The Second Wind Factor does work!

I don't know about everyone else, but it just seems as if a lot is going on.  The pressures of everyday life and the required daily press to just complete even the simplest of goals while maintaining any sense of sanity just seems unrealistic at times.  Even regrets of not doing things right the first time or procrastinating and not starting at all become a weight as the end of the year approaches.

Yet, as I reflected this morning, I realized that none of what God intended for me to do or have would not be attainable if I first didn't believe it and if I didn't press in.  Certainly, none of it would get done if I didn't think that God designed me to do it.  For those of you who feel as if you have given it your last push and you are not going anywhere, I urge you to kick in your second wind factor.

If you didn't run track, I'll explain that your second wind takes place at the toughest place in the race.  I can recall running the 400m and on the curve is when the second win factor is needed.  It is in that place where the training that you endured, your own physical shape and even your ability to breathe in controlled patterns determine if you will be positioned to win or complete the race at all.   This is also the point where the very goal that you desire is right in front of you.  Yet, you are so aware of everything that you are against.  Even running in your own lane, you have a panaoramic vision of everything and everyone else.  This is also the same time where everything around you may nudge you to give up. 

Yet, when you tap within to the very strength that you didn't know you had inside of you, the second wind factor will be waiting. You will feel empowered to step it up.  The guilt of slacking and procrastinating can be erased when you make the decision to start right where you are and look at your issue dead in the face and say "You will not win!"  At this point, you will desire to press in and "go hard".   In the midst of your financial struggles, job burnout, or whatever you are facing, you probably walked past your second wind factor without a second thought.

Just take even a moment today and make some adjustments.  You did not get this far in 2010, surviving it all just to give up or watch your life go by.  Even at that crazy job, use your lunch hour to find a quiet place to write down the very things that you desire along with every obstacles you face and surrender them unto God.  For within you, you were born with the very thing that you need to accomplish the task.  You were created to walk it out and live to tell about it.  You were created to complete the race of your very own destiny.  Don't give up now!  Breathe in and press on!

For those of you who have been asking, I've finally posted the links for you to purchase my first two books on this blog.  The first book is entitled, "Change Your Life: The 90 Day Experience".  My story is called One Woman's Story where I share about a very critical transformative stage in my life.  I was faced with many decisions of change and then one of my greatest supporters suffered a heart attack - my father.  My story along with 6 other woman will surely relate to you as you learn how we all faced major events in our lives and managed to push past our obstacles.

Have you been tugged lately?

For some reason, June tends to bring about a reality check for me.  Something about being in the middle of my life and then being in the middle of the year causes me to reflect and evaluate.  As we all approach the half-way point of 2010, it is a good time to pause and take notice of where you are in your life.  How is your career doing?  Are you meeting and achieving the goals that you made for yourself in January?  How is your family and marriage doing? Are you and your husband growing together or apart?  When is the last time that you made an intentional effort to invest in your relationship?  Are the kids on track?  Have you been so busy that you haven't paid attention or have you made the time to check in your children?  

If any of these questions caused you to realize that you have been busy but accomplishing little, please take the time now and reflect, adjust and keep it moving.  As I approach another birthday in about a week, I'll be doing just the same.  For those of you that don't have journals, go out and get one.  Take advantage of the rest of the year, by reminding yourself daily with words of gratitude, documenting your life daily, and pressing yourself beyond whatever you face daily.  

Remember a tug is a sharp forceful movement that should at least create a response or action from the individual.  Don't just read this and ignore you -- get moving!
