Friday is almost here...and I can't wait. I am in full expectation of what God is going to do for the women of my community. Last month, God gave me an idea to do a Girlfriend Revival to inspire and encourage other women. When He first gave me the idea, I thought...sure I'll do it next year.
As the days began to pass, I kept being reminded by the Holy Spirit of my pending assignment. To make a short story, even shorter...I obeyed God and the event is scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2008.
Some may ask, what is a Girlfriend Revival? Well, I'm glad you asked. According to Psalm 133:1, God sees it as good and pleasant when we are able to dwell together in unity. It is an event that is designed to bring women from different backgrounds, churches and neighborhoods together for an evening of worship, fellowship and the word. The event started at my house and as the move of God began to take place...we evolved to the Prewitt Family Park & Community Center. This will be an evening where women will be free to get refreshed, renewed and restored.
My prayer is that women reconnect the God value in relationships and re-establish spiritual connections with their sisters. It will not matter that we are in different seasons, different churches, different neighborhoods or different cultures. We are living in a time where need each other. We need people who are wiling to sow into our lives and reciprocate to a level that growth is apparent in the relationship. You need your good girlfriend to be part of your support team, keep you in check, encourage you in your down times and pray for you when needed. A good girlfriend brings balance to your life. Oprah has Gayle, who do you have? During this process, I have learned the importance and value of having true girlfriends. I am blessed and honored that God has placed key people in my life at critical times.
